The Importance of Staying Organized

Becoming an effective learner requires order, diligence, and thoughtful priorities

How do you stay organized as a learner? How do you keep track of all your assignments and projects to ensure you get everything done?

In the Doctrine and Covenants we read about the School of the Prophets in Kirtland, Ohio. As the early Saints began their learning journeys in that school, they were admonished, “Organize yourselves; prepare every needful thing; and establish . . . a house of order . . .” (D&C 88:119). As with those in the early days of this dispensation, we must organize ourselves in order to learn effectively.

According to Sister Barbara B. Smith, former Relief Society General President, “There is no end to our capacity to learn if we apply ourselves diligently and with eagerness to the task” (“The Powers Within Us,” Ensign, February 1983). A critical part of applying ourselves diligently and staying organized is to reflect on priorities and make adjustments as needed.
